About

The mission of the Casey Altman Foundation is to provide scholarships, grants and assistance to individuals, groups, and institutions whose interests and goals align with Casey’s passions and dreams of helping others.

The Casey Altman Foundation was established in December 2018 in memory of Casey Elizabeth Altman, a beloved daughter, sister and friend who had a passion for horses, sports and helping others.  Casey passed away in November 2018, joining her father, grandparents, and other family members in Heaven.

Casey adored all living creatures and had a passion for taking in and helping animals that were in need of love and care, no matter how unconventional these “pets” may have seemed to others! Her menagerie included various dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, hedgehogs, ducks, goats and of course, horses. Most recently, she bottle fed a baby squirrel back to health after Hurricane Florence. Casey had a gift for seeking out animals that had suffered the worst of this world, and helping them heal not only physically, but emotionally as well.

Casey expressed her gift of helping animals through her work at St. Frances Animal Center in Georgetown, SC. She worked with St. Frances, a non-profit from February 2016 to April 2018 at which point she transitioned to work as a property manager in her family’s real estate business. Casey’s passion for the mission and values of St. Frances was something she held dear to her heart.

Casey grew up working in the family business, Pawleys Island Realty, in various ways. During her younger years, she would make cookies along with her siblings and grandmother to distribute among the staff. She performed whatever job was needed from handing out boiled peanuts to vacationers to delivering linens to the rental houses. She loved any excuse to be on Pawleys Island and out of the office.

It is our hope the Casey Altman Foundation will help many others and her legacy will continue on.
